Despite the result, CUI showcased its resilience and offensive depth, erasing deficits and putting itself in position late against a veteran Vanguard squad.
The Lions struck first with a three-run second inning, but the Golden Eagles responded immediately. Serena Velez delivered an RBI single to get Concordia on the board and cut the deficit to 3–1.
After Vanguard extended its lead, CUI again answered. The Golden Eagles chipped away in the fourth before putting together their biggest rally in the fifth inning.
