La Mirada, Calif. - The Concordia University Irvine softball team split its road doubleheader against Biola on Saturday, opening the day with a dominant 10–1 victory before falling 12–2 in game two. The Golden Eagles showcased their offensive firepower and depth across both contests, exploding for double-digit runs in the opener and jumping out to an early lead in the second game, ultimately finishing the day 1–1 while continuing to demonstrate their ability to compete and produce at a high level.
CUI 10, BU 1
The CUI softball team delivered a commanding performance on the road Saturday, defeating Biola 10–1 in game one of the doubleheader at Freedom Field, spoiling the Eagles' Senior Day with a complete effort on both sides of the ball.
CUI wasted no time setting the tone, jumping out to an early lead in the first inning. Veronica Moore drove in the game's opening run with an RBI single, and Kaliya Yco followed with a sacrifice fly to make it 2–0. The Golden Eagles continued to apply pressure in the third inning, adding another run on Moore's second sacrifice fly of the game to extend the lead.
Biola managed to get on the board in the fourth inning, but Concordia quickly regained full control. The Golden Eagles broke the game open in the fifth when Yco delivered a clutch two-RBI single, pushing the advantage to 5–1.
From there, CUI's offense continued to roll. Noelani Ching highlighted a three-run sixth inning with an RBI double, while additional runs scored on a passed ball and a Morgan Kneubuhler RBI single. Concordia capped off the dominant performance in the seventh inning, as Jessica Im drove in two more runs with a base hit to seal the 10–1 victory.
The Golden Eagles totaled 12 hits on the day, with contributions throughout the lineup. Moore led the way with two hits and two RBIs, while Yco added three RBIs. Im drove in a pair, and Serena Velez chipped in with two hits. Audrey Robles also made an impact, reaching base multiple times and scoring twice.
In the circle, Kacie Gossett was in control, limiting Biola to just four hits and one run while keeping the Eagles off balance throughout the game. Her steady performance allowed the Golden Eagles to maintain momentum from the opening inning to the final out.
With the win, Concordia improved to 37–12 on the season, showcasing its offensive depth, timely hitting, and strong pitching in a dominant start to the doubleheader.
CUI 2, BU 12
The Concordia University Irvine softball team wrapped up its doubleheader against Biola on Saturday with a 12–2 loss in game two, as the Golden Eagles were unable to overcome a big early inning despite showing flashes of offensive production.
CUI came out aggressive to start the game, striking first in the opening inning behind a two-run home run from Veronica Moore. The early swing gave the Golden Eagles a quick 2–0 lead and continued Moore's strong day at the plate following her performance in game one.
Biola responded in the bottom half of the inning with a surge of offense, stringing together hits to take control of the game. Despite the setback, Concordia continued to compete and looked to settle in defensively as the game progressed.
The Golden Eagles collected four hits in the contest, with Moore leading the way with her home run and two RBIs. Jessica Im, Caitlynn Campbell, and Kaliya Yco each added hits as CUI continued to find ways to put runners on base.
In the circle, Concordia utilized multiple arms, with Kailey Estes and Paetynn Snobar providing stability in relief. Snobar was particularly effective late, tossing a scoreless inning to help close out the game.
While the early deficit proved difficult to overcome, the Golden Eagles showed resilience and continued to battle throughout the contest. Combined with their dominant 10–1 victory in game one, CUI demonstrated its offensive capabilities and ability to respond, finishing the day with a split on the road and continuing to build momentum as the season progresses.
