CUI's Soto & Coach Greenawalt Among Four CUI All-American Honorees

Three Golden Eagles And Head Coach Casey Greenawalt Honored by ACWPC As Best in NCAA DII

IRVINE, Calif. - The Concordia Golden Eagles had their fingerprints all over the All-American list as Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches honored four members of the Concordia Golden EaglesĀ

Headlining the talented group was Concordia University IrvineĀ junior goalie Jaden Soto, who was named ACWPCĀ DII Player of the Year, and head coach Casey Greenawalt, who was tabbed as ACWPC DII Coach of the Year.

Joining Soto as ACWPC First Team All-Americans were Concordia teammates Mia Hueston and Anna Tyukasz. This is the second straight season Tyukasz has been named First Team All-American by the ACWPC and also the second time Soto earned national recognition as she was Honorable Mention All-American as a sophomore.

Coach Greenawalt helped captain the CUI women's water polo team to the most wins in the program's NCAA DII Era as CUI finished 20-10 overall and made the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history. Competing as members of the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) for the first time, Greenawalt steered the Golden Eagles to their first WWPA regular season title ANDĀ helped them become WWPA Conference Tournament Champions while the school hosted the tourney at their home pool at Woollett Aquatics Center.Ā  The Golden EaglesĀ won nine straight games down the stretch to make their push in to the NCAA Bracket.

Soto was the anchor of the CUI defense and set the school record for career saves earlier this season. She racked up over 200 stops as a junior and was named First Team All-WWPA and made the All-WWPA Defensive Team. The Murrieta, Calif. native also led Concordia with 62 recorded steals.

Tyukasz led her team in recorded assists with 34 helpers while also scoring 39 times and finishing second on the team in points with 73. She added 34 steals and was named First Team All-WWPA, and recently surpassed the 100 goal milestone in less than two seasons in Irvine.

Hueston led CUI with 61 goals and 85 points as a true freshman.Ā  The First Team All-WWPA selection from Sydney, Australia also was one of two featured sprinters for the Golden Eagles and led the team in shots. She assisted on the game-winning goal by Amber Lewis in the WWPA Conference Championship Game.
