IRVINE, Calif. – Concordia University Irvine women's soccer opened conference play with a 0-0 draw against Hawai'i Hilo on Saturday at home.
The Golden Eagles controlled much of the offensive pressure, finishing with 11 shots compared to seven from the Vulcans. CUI also earned seven corner kicks while holding Hawai'i Hilo without one.
Christina Sidoti recorded three saves in goal for the Golden Eagles, while CUI's defense held Hawai'i Hilo scoreless through 90 minutes.
Avery Munoz led CUI with three shots, including two on goal, while Bella Barrett recorded two shots. Ashley Grubert and Antonella Russo each added a shot on goal.
CUI created several opportunities throughout the second half, including shots from Munoz, Russo, Grubert and Barrett, but Hawai'i Hilo goalkeeper Lydia Keller made four saves to preserve the shutout.
The Golden Eagles move to 3-1-4 overall and 0-0-1 in conference play.
CUI returns to action Tuesday at home against Chaminade at 3:30 p.m..
