Redlands, Calif. — The Concordia University Irvine men's water polo team put together a perfect Saturday, earning a pair of impressive victories against two strong opponents. The Golden Eagles opened the day with a 13-9 statement win over Cal State Fullerton before closing out the day with a commanding 19-10 victory over No. 8 (DIII) Cal Lutheran. CUI's offense stayed productive throughout both contests, while strong defensive efforts helped the Golden Eagles secure two statement wins and finish the day unbeaten.
CUI 13, CSUF 9
CUI came out firing against Cal State Fullerton, using a balanced offensive attack and a strong defensive performance to pull away for a 13-9 victory. The Golden Eagles generated 13 goals against CSUF, while goalkeeper Derek Maddox anchored the defensive effort with six saves in a complete 32-minute performance.
Levi Riegelmann led the way offensively, scoring a game-high four goals on six shots. Joao Goncalves added three goals and two assists, while Dimitrios Koritsas contributed two goals and an assist. Dante Soldati Ianora also found the back of the net twice, giving CUI four players with multiple goals.
The Golden Eagles also made an impact defensively, forcing Fullerton to work for its scoring opportunities. Maddox recorded six saves, while CUI collected 12 steals as a team. The combination of pressure defense and efficient finishing allowed CUI to maintain control and secure its first win of the day, 13-9.
CUI 19, CLU 10
The Golden Eagles carried their momentum into the second game, producing their highest-scoring performance of the day in a 19-10 victory over No. 8 (DIII) Cal Lutheran. CUI overwhelmed the Regals with a relentless offensive attack, putting 19 goals on the board while holding Cal Lutheran to 10.
Hugo Wouters delivered a standout performance, scoring five goals on six shots while adding two assists. Porter Rosenlof was also highly efficient, converting all three of his shots into goals while contributing an assist. Joao Goncalves added a goal and a team-high four assists, helping fuel CUI's offensive production.
Dimitrios Koritsas and Caleb Luby each added two goals, while Kaliq Khan, Levi Riegelmann and Dante Soldati Ianora each found the net twice. CUI finished with 35 shots and 27 total points, showcasing the depth and balance of its attack.
The Golden Eagles were equally effective defensively. Derek Maddox made five saves across 24 minutes, while Ethan Sutherland added a save during his eight minutes in goal. CUI also forced turnovers with 12 steals, helping the Golden Eagles maintain their advantage throughout the contest.
With two wins in two games, CUI capped the day with a 2-0 record and plenty of offensive momentum. The Golden Eagles' 32 combined goals showcased their ability to generate offense from throughout the lineup while their defensive pressure helped them finish the day on a high note.

The Golden Eagles will compete next at the Titan invite, hosted by Cal State Fullerton. CUI will play two familiar opponents from earlier in the season (Redlands and Pomona-Pitzer) while also facing two teams that they have not yet met this season. (Chapman and Air Force)
