Matt Fahey

Matt Fahey

Matthew Fahey starts his ninth season at Concordia as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator.

Fahey works with the outfielders and assists with the offense alongside head coach Joe Turgeon.  He serves as the third base coach and coordinates the defensive positioning and alignment, and has tutored 11 gold glove winners.

During the 2022 season, Concordia earned its highest national ranking in the NCAA DII era from the National College Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA), rising as high as No. 20 in back-to-back weeks in March. This marked the second time in three years the Eagles have moved into the Top 25 in the NCBWA DII poll.

During his five years (including one as a red shirt) as an outfielder for the NCAA Div. I powerhouse Cal State Fullerton, Fahey made three trips to Omaha, Neb. (2006-07 and 2009) to play in the NCAA College World Series.

Fahey spent his first three years playing under head coach George Horton (Oregon) and current Cal State Fullerton head coach Rick Vanderhook before playing his final two seasons beneath Dave Serrano, the current head coach at University of Tennessee. Each member of that coaching trio has earned National Coach of the Year honors by Baseball America.

Fahey graduated from Cal State Fullerton in 2009 with his bachelor's in kinesiology and earned his teaching credential from Fullerton in the spring of 2010.

Fahey earned his master's degree in coaching and athletic administration from Concordia in the spring of 2012.
