Concordia Irvine Athletics

Ryan Johnston is a graduate assistant at CUI. This is his first year coaching for the Eagles. Johsnton is pursuing his master’s degree in coaching and exercise science.

Prior to this year, Johnston spent two years on the team as a graduate transfer from UC Irvine where he completed his bachelor’s degree in education. Johnston completed his master’s in coaching and athletic administration (MCAA) in his two years at CUI. He was an outfielder and pitcher for the Eagles in 2019 and 2020. 

Johnston also coached in the West Coast League in Walla Walla, WA this past summer. He played for the Sweets during his time at UCI and got the opportunity to coach for them in 2021. 

Johnston is originally from San Diego, Calif. where he attended Cathedral Catholic High School and played both baseball and basketball. Ryan has spent the last seven years in Irvine where he enjoys coaching and playing golf.
