Keegan Bloomfield

Keegan Bloomfield leads the Golden Eagles into the 2025-26 school year as the head coach of men’s and women’s track and field and cross country.  This is Bloomfield’s eighth year at the helm of all four programs.  Previously, Bloomfield served as the assistant distance coach and recruiting coordinator at CUI.

Bloomfield’s priorities remain the same as when he began his coaching career. He states, “My goal is always to share the gospel of Jesus Christ each day with the team through actions and words.  On top of that, I hope that our student-athletes grow in the classroom and gain valuable experience to become good citizens. Lastly, I want them to learn to compete the best they can while a Golden Eagle.”

Under his guidance, the women's cross country team finished in second place at the PacWest Championships, which were hosted and video live streamed by Concordia at nearby OC Great Park. Along with the men's team who finished third at the meet, eight Golden Eagles earned All-Conference honors by finishing in the Top 21.  Taylor Whitfield made First Team All-Conference with a sixth place finish in the women's race. Noah Plaza led the men's quartet and was seventh overall. Whitfield also placed second individually at the Irvine Invitational, which was the first cross country meet hosted by Concordia in the school's NCAA DII Era.

The 23-24 school year saw unparalleled success across all programs.  In cross country, the men’s and women’s teams finished 6th and 4th respectively at the NCAA West Region Championships, plus Jori Paradis and Porshe Eismann finished 9th and 10th, the highest ever finishes in school history.  Paradis also won PacWest Conference Runner of the Year and was conference champion.  The men’s team saw their highest-ever finish at the regional meet and had three all-conference performers. The women’s team finished the season ranked #19 in the nation.

The momentum moved right along into track and field season where the Golden Eagles set 18 new school records!  The records were set across all event groups (Throws, Distance, Sprints, Hurdles, Multis, Relays).  The women’s team placed 2nd in the PacWest conference championships, their highest ever finish!  The men’s team also placed their highest ever finish and tied for third.  All together the Golden Eagles brought home seven individual conference titles.  Trey Vergenz won field athlete of the meet. He also won Freshman Field athlete fo the year along with freshman counterpart Giovana Pelascini.

The spring of 2023 was groundbreaking season with Porshe Eismann and Dylan Fox both qualifying for NCAA DII Outdoor Nationals in Pueblo, Colorado.  Eismann had previously set the school record in the 800 and Fox in the long jump.  That spring saw Sarah Fajer become a two time conference champion in the shot put, Jori Paradis win the 5,000m, Eismann won the 800, and Fox take home the title in the long jump.  The season set the Golden Eagles up for great success.

The Golden Eagles were on a roll in the Fall of 2022 with the mens and women’s programs winning their first meets since 2009.  The women’s team took home two wins on the season, SF State and CSUSB invitationals.  They also finished third place at the PacWest Championships with two first team and one third team performances.  The men took home fourth with two all conference performers.  Both teams were ranked in the NCAA West region for eight weeks straight.  Marking a first for the program.

The Golden Eagles re-wrote the record books during the Spring of 2022.  Five school records were broken between the men’s and women’s track and field teams.  Sarah Fajer also became the first thrower to qualify for the NCAA National Championships. Fajer competed in Michigan at GVSU and finished 16th overall.

History was made in Bloomfield’s fourth campaign leading the Eagles as the women’s cross country team was ranked for the first time in the NCAA West Regional rankings released by USTFCCCA.  The women received four consecutive rankings during the 2021 season.  The women’s team also tied their highest-ever finish as a team at the PacWest Championships.  On the men’s side, Bloomfield coached the highest-ever finisher for CUI at the PacWest Championships, Angel Aguirre, who took 13th place.  Aguirre was later named PacWest Men's XC Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

While the 2020-21 school year had a different feel to it, the Bloomfield-led Eagles took full advantage of the opportunity in front of them.  The Eagles participated in just three indoor meets and six outdoor meets but managed to break two school records on the men’s side (4x400, high jump) and six school records on the women’s side (pole vault, long jump, 400m hurdles, 400m, 100m.) The Eagles also tallied a school and conference-high 62 total Academic All-Pac West Awards.  The track and field/cross country teams also brought home an impressive 44 Division 2 ADA Academic Achievement awards.  On top of all this success in the classroom, the Eagles also took home two PacWest individual titles (Bailey Wade and Chais Hamilton) while Paige Johnson earned second team All-American status at Nationals.  Jori Paradis also received Freshman Track Athlete of the Year honors while Chais Hamilton earned Field Athlete of the Meet at the PacWest Championships.  Overall, the 2020-21 campaign was a successful one for the Eagles.

Bloomfield’s previous year brought success both on and off the course and track and field.  The 2019 cross country season saw both the CUI men's and women's teams have their highest finish in the PacWest and West Region meets.  Bloomfield’s teams may have had an abbreviated indoor track and field season but it was a successful one nonetheless.  The men's team set two new school records in the high jump and weight throw, while the women's team stacked up five new school records.  Senior Tamia Prince became an All-American during the season as well.

In the 2018 season, the cross country team led by Bloomfield had two Third-Team All-Conference selections: Rosalba Cabrera and Hector Arteaga. The CUI track and field teams also were represented well at the PacWest Championships in the spring of 2019 with the men finishing in third place and the women finishing in fourth. Bloomfield also coached First-Team All-Conference Champion Sarah Herron in the long jump. In addition, Josh Fry earned gold in the pole vault at the PacWest Championships and teammate Chais Hamilton dominated the hammer throw and placed second in the shot put.

In 2018, Bloomfield coached the highest-ever men’s cross country finisher at the PacWest Conference Championship.  He also led the women’s team to their highest-ever finish (at the time)in the NCAA West Regional.  Bloomfield assisted the CUI women's track and field team to a third place finish.  Bloomfield recruited five All-West Regional honorees in the indoor season. During the 2017 track and field season, both the men's and women's team placed fourth at the PacWest Championships with multiple individual championships. In 2016, in CUI's first year in the PacWest, he assisted coaching four PacWest Individual Champions and his team set 13 school records.  In 2015, he assisted in coaching NAIA Indoor National Champion Ashley Bell and the men’s and women’s track & field teams both took third at the GSAC Championships, with 10 individual champions.

Bloomfield helped rebuild a track & field program that has had off and on finishes at the NAIA Indoor & Outdoor National Championships, and a cross country program that is steeped with tradition, including a women’s NAIA National Championship in 2000, and combined NAIA National Championships in 2005 and 2006.
