Chris Seiffert

Chris Seiffert is the interim CUI head men's volleyball coach.  He originally joined the CUI men's volleyball coaching staff as an assistant in 2022 and was elevated to interim head coach shortly before the 2024 season.  The former Long Beach State player and assistant coach is now in his fourth season with the Golden Eagles and has coached on the USA Under-21 National Team multiple times in recent years.

During the 2024 campaign, CUI won its first five home games and notched the program's first victories over the University of Charleston and Long Island University.  First-year performers Ties Cornelissen, Christian Galoppo and setter Yotam Briger were all named to the MPSF All-Freshman Team, and the CUI men's volleyball team qualified for the AVCA Academic Award for the first time in the NCAA DII era.

Seiffert was a four-year starting setter at Long Beach State from 1997-2000. He was a three-time AVCA All-American and earned NCAA All-Tournament honors in 1999 when he led the 49ers to the championship match.

Seiffert ranks second in school history at Long Beach State in assist average (17.08 assists/game) and is third in all-time assists (6,099). He also set a 49er single-match record with 115 assists against San Diego State.

Following his career at The Beach, Seiffert joined the U.S. National Team from 2001-05. He competed in a number of events, including the NORCECA Championships, Pan American Games, World League and World Championships. He was also an alternate for the 2004 Olympic Team.

In 2001, Seiffert was a member of the U.S. Team that defeated France to win the gold medal at the World University Games.  Seiffert also competed professionally overseas for 10 years, playing with various teams in Austria, Greece, Turkey and Romania.

Seiffert earned his bachelor's degree in communications from Long Beach State in 2000.
