Sweeney is in her first year as an assistant coach with the Concordia University Irvine softball team after serving as a graduate assistant with the Eagles during the 2022 season.
She is a former All-Conference pitcher with the Eagles and was named the PacWest Newcomer of the Year after compiling a 10-5 record and a 1.79 ERA in 23 games in her last year in the circle. This included back-to-back complete games in a pair of wins over conference rival Biola in a span of 24 hours. Continuing the program's strong tradition of solid pitching, Sweeney finished the year second on the staff in wins, complete games, innings pitched, and ERA among starters. In addition, she helped the nationally-ranked Eagles clinch the PacWest Conference SoCal Pod during an unorthodox season and reach the NCAA DII West Regional.
Prior to coming to Concordia, Sweeney excelled as a pitcher for Idaho State University for three years. She was named the Big Sky Pitcher of the Week during the 2019 season after dominating in a tournament and posting a 1.78 ERA and nine strikeouts.
At Idaho State, Sweeney earned her bachelor’s degree in health science. Sweeney earned her master’s degree in healthcare administration at Concordia in 2022.
She graduated from Palo Verde High School in Las Vegas, Nevada.Â
