Sabrina Engelstad joined the Concordia University Irvine women’s basketball coaching staff in 2019. She graduated from UC Irvine where she was a member of the women’s basketball team for four years. While at UCI, Engelstad led her team in field goal percentage both her junior and senior years on the court. She was named to the Big West All-Academic Team all four years. She double majored in sociology and education with a specialization in children’s learning and development.
Prior to her time at UCI, she played her freshman year of basketball at Saint Mary’s where she played in 30 games and was a part of a team that made it to the second round of the WNIT.
In high school, Engelstad led her team to a Bay Valley Athletic League title, going undefeated and earning the No. 1 seed in the CIF NORCAL Division 1 playoffs. She finished her high school career as Heritage High School's all-time leader in blocked shots.
When Engelstad is not coaching basketball, she is a preschool teacher in Lake Forest, Calif. She loves going to the beach, teaching children, traveling, and painting. She wants to change the world and influence lives through basketball and education in any situation that God puts her in. Her dream is to open a school in Thailand and work with the NBA to implement basketball programs in areas that have never been exposed to the sport.
Engelstad is excited to be a part of the CUI program and is ready to help the ladies in any way she can.
