Amber Ridens joined the Concordia women’s volleyball staff as a Graduate Assistant in 2018.
Prior to coaching at Concordia, she coached 3 years at her alma mater, Fountain Valley High School. She coached the boys freshman/sophomore team her during first year and assisted the varsity boys during the following two seasons. She also coached three years as the girls varsity assistant.
Prior to Fountain Valley, Ridens coached the girls freshman/sophomore team at Marina High School. In addition to high school volleyball, Amber spent two years coaching at Surf City Volleyball Club.
Ridens is an alumnus of Concordia University where she had a successful career and was a two-time All-GSAC and NAIA All-American honoree. She was a member of the NAIA All-Tournament team twice and still holds the record at Concordia for a match-high 36 kills.
After completing her education, Ridens traveled to Europe and played professionally in Slovenia and Italy. She then signed to play in Svedala, Sweden where she played professionally as a member of the Swedish Volleyball League.
Amber began her volleyball career at the age of 10 when she joined Orange County Volleyball Club. As a sophomore in high school, Amber joined TCA Volleyball Club. She competed at the Junior Olympics as well as becoming a member of the Junior National Team. Amber earned three varsity letters at Fountain Valley and graduated in 2006. She was also a two-time All-Sunset League selection and earned first-team considerations as a senior. Ridens earned MVP honors in both her junior and senior campaigns. In addition, she received a nomination for the Coronet Award during her final year of high school.
Ridens is currently getting a second Master’s of Science in Coaching and Exercise Sciences. She completed her Master’s Degree in Coaching and Coaching Administration from Concordia University Irvine in May 2016.
When not coaching volleyball, Ridens can be found spending time with her niece and nephew or at Angels Stadium cheering on her favorite team, the Angels.
