Dane Kiefer

Dane Kiefer brings a diverse background in basketball as a player, coach, and program staff member, along with a strong passion for player development and helping student-athletes reach their full potential.

A native of Orange County, Kiefer grew up in Placentia and attended El Dorado High School, where he competed in both basketball and baseball. He continued his basketball career at Santiago Canyon College in Orange, playing for two seasons before transferring to San Diego State University.

While at San Diego State, Kiefer served as a manager for the women’s basketball program, gaining firsthand experience with the daily operations, preparation, and demands of a collegiate program. During his time at SDSU, he also helped establish and played for the university’s men’s club basketball team, further developing his understanding of the game from both a player and organizational perspective.

Kiefer has also coached with various AAU programs throughout Orange County and San Diego, working with athletes across different age groups and skill levels. His coaching experience has provided him with a broad perspective on player development and the importance of building strong fundamentals, confidence, basketball IQ, and competitive habits. He has additionally gained experience at the professional level through his work with the Los Angeles Sparks during their training camp in San Diego.

Kiefer’s coaching philosophy is centered on player development and creating value for every athlete and the program as a whole. He is passionate about helping players maximize their abilities on the court while encouraging them to grow as confident, accountable, and well-rounded individuals off the court.

His goal as a coach is simple: to leave every player better than he found them — both as a basketball player and as a person. Kiefer believes that meaningful relationships, consistent development, and a commitment to doing things the right way are the foundation of a successful program.
