Concordia Irvine Athletics

Nicole Murzen is an accomplished professional in the field of athletic training, bringing extensive experience and a unique approach to athlete health and well-being. Nicole joined the Concordia University Irvine athletic department in 2023. She previously served as the Associate Head Athletic Trainer at Soka University.
 
Passionate about empowering athletes, she co-founded "My Steady State," an innovative program designed to guide athletes on journeys toward self-motivation, body literacy, and menstrual cycle optimization.
 
Murzen earned a Master of Science degree (2015) and a Bachelor of Science degree (2014) from Adrian College, where she was also a student-athlete on the synchronized skating team.
 
She holds certifications in various specialized techniques, including myofascial decompression, massage cupping, gua sha, Graston, muscle energy, active and positional release technique, Kinesiotape application, pilates reformer, CPR/AED, and mental health first aid.
 
Murzen is actively engaged in the professional community as a proud member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA), California Athletic Trainers' Association (CATA), Far West Athletic Trainers' Association (FWATA), and Collegiate Athletic Trainers' Society (CATS).
 
Recognized for her expertise, Murzen has presented cutting-edge research at various conferences, shedding light on crucial topics like "Menstrual Cycle Health Optimization in the Athletic Population" at the Hawaii Sports Med Summit in 2023, "Exploring Root Causes of Menstrual Cycle Dysfunction and Therapeutic Interventions" at the FWATA Annual Meeting and Clinical Symposium in 2022, and "Living in Sync with the Menstrual Cycle for Optimal Athletic Performance" at the CATA Annual Meeting and Clinical Symposium in 2020.
 
Murzen is originally from Southeast Michigan. She enjoys cooking, baking, hiking, figure skating, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. Murzen and her husband, Jordan, reside in Orange, California.
