Richard Atthowe

Richard Atthowe joined the CUI coaching staff in August 2024 as a graduate assistant working with the throwers. He specializes in the javelin throw, but also has an affinity for the discus and shot put.

He competed at Diablo Valley College in the decathlon before transitioning to throws, primarily javelin, from 2016 to 2019. He was the Big 8 Conference champion in javelin in 2016. Richard then transferred to UC Irvine from 2019 to 2021, where he focused exclusively on javelin. He received Dean's List honors three times and graduated with a degree in Sociology.

Atthowe is committed to helping student-athletes reach their full athletic potential while encouraging them to become better individuals by the time they graduate. He aims to share his love for track and field with others, motivating them to work hard to achieve their goals.

He is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Organizational Leadership (MAOL).
