IRVINE, Calif. - The Concordia University Irvine women's water polo team made waves in the classroom and is among the top academic NCAA DII programs in the pool thanks to a 3.37 Team GPA that earned the All-Academic honors from the ACWPC (Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches).
Thirteen CUI student-athletes qualified for individual recognition as well, continuing a long tradition of academic excellence. Half a dozen Golden Eagles were listed in the "Outstanding" category for this award, thanks to having a GPA between 3.71 and 4.0. The six from Concordia were
Munroe Blem,
Kennedy Brubaker,
Allyson Corbett,
Sydney Eisberg,
Kailah Peery and
Emeline Smiley.
Sierrah Ferguson,
Mattie Herzog, and sophomores
Jaden Soto and
Sofia Smith all made the "Superior" list with GPAs ranging from 3.4 to 3.7 as well. Plus,
Presley Acosta,
Sofia Dominguez and
Hannah Edwards were named to the Excellent category with GPAs of at least 3.2 or higher.
This is the second straight season that Dominguez, Soto and Peery have been honored by the ACWPC and the third consecutive year for Corbett.
