The Rundown: Concordia continued their winning ways and defeated Chaminade 3-0 at home on Saturday afternoon, October 10 on a scorcher of a day.
By the Numbers: McKenna Carrillo scored twice for CUI and Alexis Garcia-Irons added one. Taylor Thurmond, AnMarie Moreno, and Stephanie Esparza all had assists. CUI held CUH to one shot and no shots on goal.
The Difference: Concordia outshot the Swords 16-1 and 8-0 in shots on goal. CUI controlled the ball most the match.
Critical Plays: McKenna Carrillo and Taylor Thurmond had early looks for CUI, but both missed high. The game was fairly square for the remainder of the half. The Eagles broke through early in the second half, as Alexis Garcia-Irons cleaned up a loose ball in the box for her third goal of the year at 49:44. Four minutes later McKenna Carrillo scored her third of the year on an assist from Taylor Thurmond. The Eagles had a penalty kick midway through the second half, but CUH made the save. Carrillo scored again at 75:09 when she was setup by AnMarie Moreno and Stephanie Esparza.Â
What it Means: The Eagles remain in first place in the PacWest at 6-2-2 and 5-1 in the PacWest. Chaminade fell to 0-5 and 1-8.
