The Rundown: The Concordia Eagles lost by the count of 0-2 for the third-straight match, falling to Hawaii Pacific on Thursday afternoon, October 8 at home.
By the Numbers: Asher Axe, Erik Torres, Jesus Garcia, Jacob Rodewald, and John Letona fired the Eagles shots on goal. Jordan Brinkley made five saves in goal.
The Difference: At half two of HPU's three shots were on goal. CUI had two shots but none on target. The numbers were fairly even, with HPU outshooting 12-9 and 7-5 in shots on goal, but HPU just got better looks at the goal
Critical Plays: HPU controlled the ball from the kickoff, and then Josch Cuerten put HPU up 1-0 at 20:46. Jeremy Gordon missed a header wide late in the first half off a corner kick. Jesus Garcia almost snuck a ball into the top frame five minutes into the second half, but the HPU keeper made the tip. Brinkley denied an open chance at the 60-minute mark. HPU made it 2-0 at 66:34 when Cuerten scored again. Chris Rodriguez just missed a couple free kicks in the second half, representing CUI's best chances.Â
What it Means: Concordia fell to 2-7 and 2-3 in the conference. HPU improved to 5-3-1 and 3-1-1 in the PacWest.
