The Rundown: The Concordia Eagles played a great match and swept Hawaii-Hilo 3-0 inside CU Arena on Friday night.
By the Numbers: Rachel Flynn hit .310 and recorded 13 kills, and Ellie Ladensack had her best match of the year with 10 kills in 22 attempts. Logan Grove dished 39 assists and eight digs. Hannah Andrews added 10 kills.
The Difference: CUI hit a scorching .355 and held Hawaii Hilo at .120. Concordia led in sideout percentage in every set, and outblocked the Vulcans 6-5. The Eagles also recorded 49 to 35 digs.
Critical Plays: A tip from Flynn kept a CUI run in the first set alive, 15-9 Eagles. The Eagles continued to dominate the set, 25-15. After briefly trailing, Ellie Ladensack finished a ball and Kyra Auten tip a kill for the 17-13. Hannah Andrews ended game two, 25-18. UHH led early in set three, 10-9. Flynn sent a kill across the court and CUI seized control 15-12. The Eagles slowed down a bit, but a block from Logan Grove ended the match 25-19.Â
What it Means: Concordia improved to a 5-4 conference record and 9-9 overall. UHH fell to 4-5 and 2-4 in the conference.
