The Rundown: The Concordia Eagles defeated Concordia (OR) for the second time this month on Saturday, 97-78, at California Baptist.
By the Numbers: JT Roach scored a career-high 29 on 11-of-16 shooting. Martin Thomas had his season-high with 18, and Geoff Gerlach (15) and Case Bruton (13) joined him in double figures. Justin Davis added six assists.
The Difference: The Eagles hit eight more threes and 11 more field goals then their opponent. They forced 20 turnovers for 31 points off turnovers. They won in the pain 41-30.
Critical Plays: It was back and forth early, but CUI went ahead 17-12 on a three from Roach. More threes from Roach and Thomas had it 40-17 CUI with seven minutes left in the half. Just before the half a three from Bruton put CUI ahead by 27, the largest lead of the game. CU-Portland was not able to get it under 14 in the second half.
"In the first half we really passed the ball well and took good shots," CUI head coach Ken Ammann. "We are playing great, unselfish, team basketball, and taking what is there. Martin Thomas showed great leadership in the second half and led us through the half. We had a great effort this weekend closing these teams out."
What it Means: Concordia moved to 4-0 in neutral site tournament games in 2015, and are 5-1 on the season.
