The Rundown: The Concordia Eagles won an up and down affair with Bethesda, 103-75, inside CU Arena on Saturday afternoon.
By the Numbers: Gaby Johnson led four Eagles in double figures with 24 points. She was joined by Ashley Earles (22), Brittany Stafford (19), and Zoe Goss (14). Johnson also led with seven assists and eight rebounds. Stafford also had eight boards.
The Difference: The Eagles shot 55% and held the Flames at 32%. CUI outscored them in the paint, 42-22, and 48-34 off the bench.
Critical Plays: A couple layups from Ashley Earles kept CUI in pace in the first quarter, and CUI trailed 14-13 with two minutes left. A runout put CUI ahead 19-14 with 45 seconds left. The Eagles continued to build their lead and led 54-34 four minutes into the third quarter. A three-point play from Gaby Johnson made it 61-39 with four left in the third. Back-to-back threes from Elizabeth Rudd made it 67-49 Eagles.
What it Means: The Eagles (1-3) earn their first win.
