The Rundown: The Concordia Eagles fell to California Baptist 3-0 in Riverside, CA on Saturday, failing to take a set off the Lancers this year.
By the Numbers: Rachel Flynn had 19 kills in 40 swings, and added four digs and two blocks. Ellie Ladensack had 10 kills and Hannah Andrews had nine.
The Difference: CBU dominated the block, 15-4, and hit .299 compared to .156 for CUI. The Lancers led in sideout percentage in each set and had 11 aces, compared to eight for CUI.
Critical Plays: After trailing early, a kill from Ladensack put CUI up 19-17 in set one. Three straight points saw CBU regain the lead and finish it 25-23. In set two, CUI grabbed control 20-13 on a flurry of Flynn kills over a six-point run. At 24-17, CBU ran off seven-straight and held on 32-30. The Lancers ran away in the second half of the third game, and took it 25-16.
What it Means: CBU jumped to 18-6 and 11-5 in the conference. CUI falls to 14-12 and 10-7 in the PacWest.
