The Rundown: The Concordia Eagles got it within eight, but eventually fell to Point Loma at home on Saturday, 77-58.
By the Numbers: Brittany Stafford played 33 minutes for CUI and scored 13 points to go with eight boards. Zoe Goss added 10 off the bench, and Elizabeth Rudd added eight. Tyler Crockom had four assists.
The Difference: The Sea Lions hit 13 threes which was easily the difference in this one.
Critical Plays: The Sea Lions started the game looking to shoot CUI out of their zone, and led 15-5 seven minutes in. The Sea Lions ball movement kept their offense in flow as they led by double figures through the second quarter. Threes by the Sea Lions increase their lead by 18 early in the third quarter. Zoe Goss kept CUI in pace with a jumper, but PLNU responded with a three. Brittany Stafford hit a three to cut it to 12 with one minute left in the third. A layup from Elizabeth Rudd early in the fourth quarter made it 57-47 PLNU. The Sea Lions took it 77-58.
What it Means: Concordia remained winless in the PacWest at 0-3 and 1-6 overall. PLNU got their first PacWest win (7-3, 1-2).
