The Rundown: The Concordia Eagles defeated The Master's 4-1 on Saturday, September 19 at Eagles Field to claim their first win of the year.
By the Numbers:
Natalie Werner scored twice for CUI and
Megan Matchett scored her second of the year.Â
Amanda Koman scored her first of the year.Â
Jazmin Alvarez improved to 1-1-2 in goal with two saves.Â
Darby Clements also made two saves for CUI.
The Difference: At half, CUI had outshot TMC 9-3 and 8-2 in shots on goal. Six different Eagles had shots by the half. CUI outshot TMC 14-8 and 11-5 in shots on goal.Â
Critical Plays:
Megan Matchett scored the first goal at 9:30, her second of the year, it was assisted by
AnMarie Moreno and
Kendall Reekstin.Â
Amanda Koman made it 2-0 at 22:57 when
Taylor Thurmond got loose and her cross found Koman's right foot.Â
Natalie Werner made it 3-0 at 35:53 on a free kick she put through the left side. TMC got on the board early in the second half, as Kelsey Kakuaua scored on her own rebound at 47:06. At 76:27 Werner scored again on a free kick, sending in a looping shot to the upper right corner.Â
What it Means: Concordia improved to 1-1-2 and TMC dropped to 3-4-1.
