The Rundown: The Concordia Eagles defeated Dominican 2-1 in San Rafael, CA on Thursday afternoon, September 24.

By the Numbers: Connor Gordon and Chris Rawji each fired three shots for CUI, and Gordon put all three on goal.  Christian Tait earned his first win in goal in his first start, making six saves.  There were 27 fouls and five yellow cards issued.

The Difference: At the half CUI led 1-0 and outshot the Penguins 7-6 and 3-1 in shots on goal.  The shots evened by the end, with CUI leading 19-18 and both had seven on goal. 

Critical Plays: CUI got the scoring going just five minutes in as Takuro Nehei found his first career goal at 5:51 on an assist from Jesus Garcia.  Jeremy Gordon followed with a shot on goal at 28:27.  Chris Rawji put a shot on goal four minutes into the second half, and Connor Gordon made it 2-0 at 51:37 on an assist from Jesus Garcia, his third goal of the year.  DUC got back within one at 53:56 when Roberto Macias scored.  CUI held strong until the end to get the victory.

"We showed a lot of heart and fight today," CUI head coach Chris Gould said.  "We were able to grind out a result."

What it Means: Concordia earned their first victory of the year to improve to 1-4, and also earned their first PacWest victory in their first PacWest contest.  Dominican fell to 0-6 and 0-1.
