The Rundown: The Concordia Eagles had the lead late, but fell to Notre Dame de Namur 66-65 on some late free throws inside CU Arena on Saturday.
By the Numbers: Zoe Goss scored 18 to lead CUI on five-of-10 shooting. Brittany Stafford scored 13 points and Ryan Robinson added 11. Tyler Crockom added seven points and eight rebounds. Zoe Goss also grabbed eight rebounds.
The Difference: Notre Dame made six more foul shots but the one free throw at the end was the difference.
Critical Plays: Ryan Robinson broke the 8-8 tie midway through the first with a three. Alana Allensworth hit a shot late and CUI took the 17-16 lead into the second quarter. Early second quarter was close, but NDNU went ahead 23-20 on a three. The lead grew to 27-20, but thanks to two free throws from Zoe Goss it was 31-27 NDNU at the half. A rough start to the second half for CUI led to a 39-27 Argonauts lead. Haley Brown nailed a three to make it 34-39 on the 7-0 run. CUI trailed 59-47 in the fourth, but Ryan Robinson hit a three to make it 61-52 with three minutes left. A steal and scoop from Nijala Johnson made it 64-58 with 1:44 remaining. Goss freebies cut it to 64-62. Tyler Crockom scored with a foul to tie the game at 64 and a free throw took the lead. Two NDNU free throws took the lead and CUI could not hit the game-winner.
What it Means: NDNU got their first conference win and CUI fell to 2-11 and 1-7 in conference.
