The Rundown: The Concordia Eagles defeated Notre Dame de Namur on the road, 88-57 on Monday, and Concordia head coach Ken Ammann won his 400th game.
By the Numbers: Coach Ammann is the most winningest coach in all of CUI sports history with a record of 400-111 in now his 15th season. On Monday, JT Roach scored a career-high 29 points on 11-of-17 shooting, going five-of-10 from three. Justin Davis scored 16 and Stephen Grosey added 13 points and eight rebounds. Martin Thomas fueled the offense with 10 assists.
"This was a great team effort tonight, that is what we are, and we are right where we want to be, right in the hunt," coach Ammann said.Â
The Difference: CUI nailed 12-of-25 threes and shot 55% from the field. They held NDNU to 44% scored 24 points off 17 Argonauts turnovers.
Critical Plays: Davis helped the Eagles take a six-point lead early with a layup and jumper. Roach drilled a three to make it 23-10 with nine minutes left. NDNU cut it to five, but CUI took a 39-29 lead into the half. A layup and three from Roach helped CUI to a 54-31 lead five minutes into the second half. NDNU got as close as 15, and the 31-point difference at the end was the largest.
"This team loves playing on the road, and this was another great road win (CUI is 9-0 away from CU Arena this year)," coach Ammann said. "We have one more tough one on this trip and we are going to try and lock in and get that done. Martin Thomas had a special night and a lot of other guys gave us great performances." Â
What it Means: The Eagles improved to 16-3 and 9-2 in conference, and with Azusa Pacific falling to Dominican on Monday, now are tied with the Cougars in first place. The Eagles moved from 10th to 8th in this week's D2SIDA West Region Poll.Â
