The Rundown: The Concordia Eagles were close early, but Azusa Pacific controlled the majority of the way and won 98-79 inside CU Arena on Tuesday night.
By the Numbers: Brittany Stafford was outstanding for CUI with 19 points and five rebounds. Ryan Robinson and Zoe Goss chipped in 11, and Ashley Earles scored 10.
The Difference: CUI was outscored in the paint, 34-22, and APU made 10 more free throws.
Critical Plays: Neither team scored it well early and APU led 6-5 five minutes in. Ryan Robinson drilled a three for CUI and it was tied at 13. APU led 21-17 after one. APU hit three straight threes to lead 32-24. The Cougars built a 48-34 halftime lead. To start the second half APU built their lead to 20, 58-38. Brittany Stafford hit a layup and jumper as CUI tried to keep pace, 62-45. Stafford kept scoring with a three-point play, and CUI trailed 86-69.
What it Means: CUI dropped to 1-8 and remained winless in the PacWest at 0-4. APU improved to 10-2 and 4-0 in the conference.
