Late Seasider Run Erases CUI's 4th Quarter Lead

The Rundown: The Concordia Eagles led at home into the fourth quarter, but fell to BYU-Hawaii 84-72 on Monday night.

By the Numbers:  Brittany Stafford had a huge night with 26 points and nine rebounds.  Gaby Johnson scored 11 and Ashley Earles added 13.  Tyler Crockom and Earles had three assists each.

The Difference:  BYU-Hawaii scored 14 of the last 16 points to finish the game.  They shot 55% compared to 39% for CUI.  CUI made 24-of-31 free throws.

Critical Plays:  In a flashback to Saturday, BYUH opened the game with three-straight threes.  Ashley Earles hit a three to make it 14-4 Seasiders.  Zoe Goss converted the three-point play to end the quarter and CUI trailed 31-19.  Earles had two steal and scores, and CUI scored the first 11 points of the quarter to get within one.  With three minutes left BYUH had pushed it back to 41-32.  The Seasiders led 45-41 at the half.  A layup from Gaby Johnson tied the game at 45 early in the third.  Brittany Stafford hit a three and CUI led 49-45.  BYUH scored a layup late in the quarter to close to 58-57 Eagles.  BYUY opened the half with a 7-2 run to take the lead. Stafford converted a layup with four minutes left to close to 68-66.  Stafford tied it at 70 with an offensive board and put back.  BYUH scored six straight from there to lead with 55 seconds left.  The Seasiders took the win, 84-72. 

What it Means:  Concordia falls to 2-17 and 1-13 on the season.

Up Next:  The Eagles will look to rebound at home on Thursday at 7:30 pm against Hawaii Pacific.
