The Rundown: The Concordia Eagles were in it early, but a rough second half saw them fall to Hawaii Pacific at home on Thursday, 68-87.
By the Numbers: Tyler Crockom had 20 points and 11 rebounds for the double-double. Ashley Earles and Zoe Goss tossed in 10 each. Gaby Johnson and Brittany Stafford had seven rebounds each.Â
The Difference: CUI was outscored in the paint 38-26 and 28-15 off the bench. HPU shot 52% and held CUI at 36%.
Critical Plays: Tyler Crockom started the CUI scoring three minutes in with a jumper. Crockom's three-point play gave CUI the 7-6 lead five minutes in. HPU finished in a flurry and led 26-18 after one. Stafford scored four-straight to pull to 31-28 early in the second. A layup from Zoe Goss tied the game at 37 with four minutes left and Elizabeth Rudd nailed a three for the lead. The Sharks fought back and led 45-43 at the half. The Sharks started the second half on a 17-5 run. A layup from Crockom in the fourth cut it to 11, 76-65 Sharks. That was as close as it got though, as HPU won 87-68.Â
What it Means:Â The Eagles fell to 2-18 and 1-14 in the PacWest.
