The Rundown: The Concordia Eagles fell in late, heartbreaking fashion on Saturday afternoon, 59-60, to Fresno Pacific on the road.
By the Numbers: Brittany Stafford hit her average scoring 18 points with 13 rebounds, and Zoe Goss added 11 points. Tyler Crockom had seven assists.
The Difference: CUI won on the boards 39-30 and 38-16 in the paint. FPU lived at the foul line and hit a late three to grab the lead.
Critical Plays: CUI jumped out early and led 16-7 after the first quarter with multiple layups and threes from Alana Allensworth and Elizabeth Rudd. Midway through the second Jasmine Davis hit a three and CUI led 25-15 but it was 26-21 Eagles at the half. FPU tied the game early in the third, but a three-point play from Rudd put CUI back ahead 34-30. FPU came back to briefly lead but Goss scored late and CUI led 43-42 into the fourth. With the game tied at 57 late, Stafford scored in the paint with 30 seconds left, but FPU responded with a three with seven seconds left, and CUI could not respond.Â
What it Means:Â CUI falls to 2-19 and 1-15 in the PacWest, while FPU improved to 4-17 and 2-13.
