The Rundown: The Concordia Eagles won the Desert Stinger Tournament in Las Vegas, NV over the weekend with two more wins on Sunday.
Concordia 5, Mary 3
By the Numbers:Â Ryann Ferguson and Charlotte Foster went deep and Grayson Harvey was perfect through four innings.Â
The Difference:Â CUI scored five runs through the first two innings.Â
Critical Plays:Â Ferguson homered to lead off the game and Foster homered later in the inning. Â CUI used three hits and an error to tack on three more in the second inning.Â
Concordia 4, Western New Mexico 3
By the Numbers:Â Five different Eagles had hits and BethAnn McCann and Grayson Harvey combined to keep WNMU at bay.
The Difference:Â CUI scored in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead.
Critical Plays:Â After an Eagle runner reached on an error in the sixth, Nicole Chavez doubled to drive in the winning run.
What it Means:Â Concordia leaves Las Vegas 7-0 and off to a great start in 2016.
"We found a way to grind out two wins today," CUI head coach Crystal Rosenthal said. "It was a great weekend overall and I am proud of the effort we gave all weekend. We look forward to getting back to work next week."
