The Concordia Eagles defeated the Academy of Art Urban Knights, 11-4, on Friday at Eagles Field in the first of a four game series and improve their record to 13-16 overall and 9-8 in the PacWest.
Pitching through the eighth inning for the Eagles was
Isaiah Terrazas. He allowed four runs, one of which was earned, on eight hits and struck out four batters. His record improved to 3-1 on the season. Â
Dallas Draviczki relieved Terrazas and pitched the ninth to close out the win for the Eagles.
The Eagles scored eight runs on fifteen hits, and committed three errors in the outing.
The Urban Knights gained an early lead in the first inning when Joseph Marchini double to left center to bring home Erick Luna from first base. The Urban Knights led 1-0.
Academy of Art extended their lead to 3-0 in the top of the second due to a pair of errors by the Eagles.
In the bottom of the second, the Eagles got on the board after
Spencer Nielsen advanced home following a throwing error by Urban Knight's shortstop, Tyler Strawn. The Eagles trailed 3-1 heading into the third.
The Eagles scored a pair of runs in the third to even the score at three.Â
Luke Hussung was driven in by
Ryan Land after he hit a double down the right field line.Â
Brett Barker then drove in Land on a single through the left side.
In the fourth, the Urban Knights had a runner in scoring position and took the lead after a hard ground ball got by Eagle's first baseman,
John Bornhop, to score Zack Trueblood.Â
The Urban Knights led 4-3 until
Ryan Land hit a shot down the right field line to advance
Joey Thompson to third in the fifth inning.Â
Tino Leite hit a sac fly to left center and brought Thompson in for the tying run.
Nick Daley singled to right field, driving
John Bornhop for the go ahead run in the sixth inning. The Eagles led 5-4.
The Eagles built on their lead when
Spencer Nielsen walked with the bases loaded.Â
Nick Daley reached first on a fielder's choice and drove in
John Bornhop to make the score 7-4. Â
Joey Thompson then singled up the middle with two outs and brought in
Hunter Holland to tack on another run before the Urban Knights ended the inning. Heading into the eighth, the score was 8-4 in favor of the Eagles.
In the eighth, the Eagles had three batters walked to start the inning and load the bases with no outs.Â
John Bornhop hit a single to left field to bring home
Ryan Land and
Tino Leite.Â
Hunter Holland singled to left center to once again load the bases as
Spencer Nielsen came to the plate. Nielsen was walked to give the Eagles an 11-4 advantage.
The Eagles held the lead through the rest of the game and won 11-4.
Concordia will play a double header against the Urban Knights tomorrow, Saturday, March 18th,
 starting a 12 pm on Eagles Field.
