The Concordia Eagles baseball team suffered a 5-2 loss Friday night at Azusa Pacific in the second of a four game series. The Eagles record drops to 20-24 on the season and 16-14 in the PacWest.
Pitching 4 innings for the Eagles was
Brett Barker. He accumulated two strikeouts and allowed three runs on five hits. Barker was charged with the loss and his record is now 4-3 on the year.
Collin Orellana pitched an inning and struck out one batter and
Garrett Kraemer threw 1.2 innings, recording three strikeouts.
The Eagles tacked on two runs, five hits, and two errors in the outing.
In the first two innings, the Cougars took a 3-0 lead following two homers in the first and a SAC fly in the second. In the fifth, they brought across another run to take a 4-0 lead.
The Eagles scored a pair of runs in the seventh when
Spencer Nielsen hit an RBI to drive in
Chad Whiteaker and
John Bornhop advanced home following a wild pitch to tighten the score, 4-2.
Later in the seventh the Cougars scored again and held onto a 5-2 lead to take down the Eagles.
Spencer Nielsen went 1-4 on the afternoon with an RBI and
John Bornhop was 2-4.
The Eagles will look to even the series on Saturday, April 23
rd at APU in a doubleheader that starts at 12 PM.
