The Concordia Eagles started a four game series against Dixie State on Eagles Field on Friday. The Eagles were defeated by the Trailblazers 2-10.
The Eagle scored two runs, had five hits, and two errors in the game.
On the mound to start for the Eagles was
Spencer Moran. He pitched 5.2 innings, allowed seven hits and eight runs. Moran recorded three strikeouts on the afternoon. Jose Cardona started the seventh and pitched through the rest of the game, allowing two runs on four hits, while striking out one batter.
John Bornhop went 1-4 on the afternoon and had two RBIs.
Ryan Land and
Spencer Nielsen were 1-3 and
Nick Daley and
Tino Leite went 1-4.
The Trailblazers took a 2-0 lead after hitting a two run homer in the first and scoring off of a wild pitch in the second. In the third, the Trailblazers scored three more to extend their lead, 6-0.
The Eagles started the fourth with a double by
Spencer Nielsen and
John Bornhop subsequently homered to right field to close the Trailblazer lead to four.
In the sixth the Trailblazers tacked on two more runs following a sacrifice fly and an RBI single to make the game 8-2 and eventually took a 10-2 advantage to win the game.
The Eagles record overall drops to 20-27 and 16-17 in the PacWest.
The series with Dixie State will continue with a double-header on Saturday, April 30th starting at 12 PM.
