The Concordia Eagles fell to the California Baptist Lancers 4-2 on Thursday night on the road in the first of a four game series.
The Eagles were able to rack up 10 hits and only commit one error in the loss.
Isaiah Terrazas started on the mound and pitched into the eighth inning, leaving the game with the go ahead run on base. Terrazas allowed eight hits, four runs, and struck out three batters. His record fell to 4-3 on the season following the loss.Â
Nick Boyett relieved Terrazas in the eighth and gave up one hit.
The Eagles were first on the board in the fourth inning and took a 2-0 lead
John Bornhop hit a sacrifice fly to left field to score
Hunter Holland.Â
Spencer Nielsen singled to center field and drove home
Brett Barker, who reached on a base hit to right field.Â
The Eagles held the 2-0 lead until the bottom of the eighth. The Lancers hit three doubles off of Terrazas and a single off Boyett to drive in four earned runs and take a 4-0 lead.
With two outs in the ninth, the Eagles found themselves with the tying run on second and after a pitching change by the Lancers,
Ryan Land was walked to load the bases. The game ended after a ground ball was hit to the shortstop and lead to the final out at second.

"Tonight was a quality baseball game played by both teams. Unfortunately, we came up on the losing end of the game but we competed at the right level the entire night. Even in a loss I was proud of the way we played and carried ourselves."
The Eagles record falls to 19-19 overall and 15-10 in the PacWest. Â Play will continue against the Lancers on Friday, April 8
th in a doubleheader starting at 3 pm in Riverside.
