The Concordia Eagles won their first two matches Friday of the 2016 Labor Day Classic, topping Seattle Pacific 3-1, and coming behind from a 2-0 deficit against UC San Diego to win 3-2.

Hannah Andrews led the way in kills for the Eagles with 19.Â
Ellie Ladensack was able to put away 18 while hitting .300. Hitting .526,
Amber Rose slapped 11 kills.Â
Taylor Dennison made 28 digs.
The Eagles dropped the first set 25-21 but came back strong in the second. Andrews had back-to-back kills before the Eagles went on a 3-0 run to jump out to a 15-10 lead. Ladensack was set by
Morgan Nunley three times to score the sets final points to even the match, 1-1.
The third set was close but the Eagles prevailed 26-24 and went on to win the fourth 25-20.
CUI defeated Seattle Pacific 3-1.
CUI 3, UCSD 2
The second match of the day started at approximately 8:45pm on Friday night. The UCSD Tritons edged the Eagles in the first two sets but the Eagles won three in a row to win the match 3-2.
Rachel Flynn and
Cindy Tran had 14 kills apiece, followed by
Amber Rose with 12. Rose hit .500. Flynn, Nunley, and
Logan Grove each had two aces. Rose had eight blocks and Tran recorded five. Dennison made 33 digs.
The Eagles found themselves behind 10-3 in the first set before finding their rhythm later on and cutting the Triton lead to four at 22-18. The Tritons took the first set 25-20 and the second 25-22.
In the third, the Eagles trailed early but took control after a kill from Ladensack put them ahead 8-7. CUI did not trail the rest of the set and won 25-22. The Eagles trailed once, 4-5, in the fourth set but quickly regained control and forced a fifth game after a 25-20 victory.
Flynn and Rose combined for nine kills in the fifth set and the Eagles won 15-7 and defeated the Tritons 3-2.
Play continues at CU Arena in the 2016 Labor Day Classic. The Eagles take on Simon Fraser at 1:15pm and Colorado Christian at approximately 8:00pm.Â
