Concordia Women's Volleyball wrapped up its week in Hawaii with a third win on the road. The Eagles downed the Vulcans in three sets Monday night in Hilo for their second sweep in a row and 10th consecutive victory.
The Vulcans and Eagles kept the first set close, until two back-to-back kills from Rachel Flynn gave Concordia an 18-15 advantage. The Vulcans snuck within one, but a 6-2 scoring run with kills from Amber Rose, Hailey Gaines and the game winner from Jaclyn Brown locked down the win.
After falling behind 3-0 to open up the second, the Eagles powered 14 straight points, with five straight kills and two aces, to put the Vulcans down 11. Concordia continued its offensive efficiency to outscore the Vulcans 25-11. They posted a .321 attack percentage with 12 kills and only three errors.
Rose set the tone in set three with the first kill, followed by Cindy Tran to carry on a seven-point streak. Kills from Auten, Flynn and a service ace from Logan Grove extended the Eagles' lead. Concordia closed out the game and match with a trio of kills from Tran, Brown and Auten from Jessica Diederich.
Tran posted a .500 hitting percentage with 10 kills and two blocks. Rose hit .400 with five kills and four blocks. Madeline Deters led the Eagles with 17 kills, eight assists and an ace. Riley Gill had four aces and 11 digs.
With five matches remaining the conference play, the Eagles return to Irvine, Calif. for a game against Holy Names on Saturday Nov. 4th at 5 p.m. Concordia is now 14-8 and 10-5 in conference and in fourth place.Â
