Win over HNU marks eleven in a row for Women's Volleyball

Saturday, the Eagles earned their eleventh straight win and third straight sweep with a victory over the Holy Names Hawks. Concordia utilized the skills that have surged the impressive run, relying on their tough serve, big block and defensive prowess. CUI is now 15-8 and 11-5 in conference with four games remaining on their 2017 schedule. 

Rachel Flynn led the match with 14 kills and zero errors for a .700 hitting percentage. Cindy Tran, Amber Rose and Jaclyn Brown each had seven kills and combined for eight blocks. Setter Jessica Diederich had 23 assists with two aces and 10 digs. 

With a 12-10 lead in set one, the Eagles embarked on an 8-2 scoring run to take a commanding 20-12 lead. Concordia closed out the game on kills from Flynn, Brown and a few Hawk errors. Despite committing seven hitting mistakes, the Eagles contained their opponents to a .040 hitting percentage. 

Concordia jumped to a 7-1 lead in set two, with three of the points coming from Rose kills. The Eagle offense accelerated throughout the game and the Eagles took a double digit, 18-10 lead on kills from Kylie Breitenwischer and Brown. While the Hawks fought back, Concordia won set two on a kill from Kyra Auten. Rose registered six kills in the set to help the Eagles improve their attack percentage to .516. 

To snag the sweep, Concordia put together 17 kills with only one error. The Eagles dominated the third and final set and ended it with six consecutive points. 

Wednesday, the Eagles face off with Biola University in La Mirada, Calif at 7 p.m. In their first encounter this year, Biola defeated the Eagles in an intense five-set match. Friday, Concordia celebrates senior day against Hawai'i Hilo in Irvine, Calif. at 7 p.m.
