Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Alisha Alexander

Gould earns 100th career win as Eagles top Chaminade

In a game where the Eagles scored four goals and shut out Chaminade, the highlight of the day was Head Coach Chris Gould and his 100th career win with Concordia Men's Soccer.

Gould, in his ninth year as the head coach of both men's and women's soccer, is one win away from 100 as the women's coach too.

The Eagles took an early lead as Eric Torres found the net off an assist from Michael Oakson.  The goal came in just the 9th minute of the game, putting CUI up 1-0.

Concordia continued to attack the goal, taking two more shots before Andrew Almeida scored with the help of an assist from Randall McDermott.  Almeida played the ball in the air and sent it to the back post.

William Whiddon made a save on a shot by Nick Kraus to keep the Silverswords off the board.

In the 33rd minute, a throw in from Cameron Merrill gave Jose Huerta the opportunity to head the ball into the goal to pad the Eagle lead at 3-0.

Whiddon made two more saves in the half to keep the Chaminade offense silent.

Julian Font, with an assist from John Letona, sent a laser into the left side of the net 10 minutes into the second half.

Ricardo Medina took over in the net for Whiddon in the 70th minute looking to keep the shutout intact.  He made back-to-back saves in the 81st minute of the game to deny the SIlverswords.
