Down 20-15 in the first quarter against Hawaii Pacific University, the Eagles shook things up with the Sharks. Concordia outscored its opponent 16-7 in the second to shift the game in their favor and then held on for the victory.
After giving up two more points in to start the second quarter,
Sopavy Seng stepped up for the Eagles and scored a three-pointer. HPU added one of its own, but Seng made two free throws to reduce the lead to seven.
Kennedy Fulcher found the basket for two more in the Eagles' favor, and
Reilly Walsh and
Michaela Vanderklugt each added a basket apiece. Seng finished the quarter with five more to put Concordia ahead at the half.
In the third, the Eagles extended the lead to nine on a shot from Vanderklugt. The Sharks rattled off seven-straight before
Montana Walters stopped the run with a three. In the final quarter of play, HPU tied the game at 51-51 before stealing a one-point lead on a free throw. Walters worked up another deep shot to put the Eagles back on top. Concordia capitalized on three of four free throws to secure the 62-57 win.
Walters led the Eagles in scoring with 20 points and made five three-pointers. Seng had 18 on the night with three rebounds. Fulcher grabbed eight rebounds,11 points and four blocks.
The Eagles enter their final game of the Hawaii trip with a 2-0 PacWest and 4-2 overall record. Monday, Concordia faces off with the Vulcans in Hilo, Hawaii at 5 p.m.
