Beach Volleyball Recap: Eagles go 2-1

Concordia's Beach Volleyball Team came out with a 2-1 record after a grueling three game day on Friday. The team now has a 10-3 record, giving them the program's best start.
The Eagles started off the day against the host Irvine Valley College with a new set of lineups. The top flight of Marcela Frazzoni and Tristan Self easily handled the Lasers 21-13, 21-7 while Madeline Deters and Kylie Breitenwischer won 23-21, 21-13 at flight No. 2. Kaila Ames and Hailey Gaines also swept 21-15, 21-13 at No. 3 and Cindy Tran and Logan Grove won at No. 5 with the scores of 21-6, 21-15. The lone match to go to three sets went in favor of the Eagles. Katie Napier and Kyra Auten won 21-10, 15-21, 15-8 at No. 4 to give Concordia a 5-0 win over IVC.
Next, Concordia faced its third Division I opponent of the season, Cal Poly. The top flight for the Eagles came out victorious, 12-21, 21-12, and 15-9 for the lone win in the 4-1 loss. Although the other other pairs feel in two sets, they kept it competitive. Particularly the No. 5 pair,who lost 21-19, 21-19.
Lastly, the Eagles avenged a 3-2 loss earlier this week to Colorado Mesa, this time coming out of top, 4-1. The top three duos each went to three sets and the No. 5 flight snuck a win in two. Flight No. 3 edged the Mavericks 21-15, 18-21,15-10 while No. 2 won 19-21, 21-18, 15-13.
The Eagles will have two weeks to prepare for the Battle at the Beach Tournament in Santa Monica, Calif. where they will face more Division I programs including Arizona, Long Beach State, UCLA, and Washington on April 8th and 9th.
