The Eagles accumulated two wins against Hawai'i Hilo Sunday, including a ruthless 13 inning showdown.
Concordia's offense performed in both games, combing for 17 total runs.
Game 1: Concordia - 7 Hawai'i Hilo - 1
With two outs in the first, Hannah Miller doubled to right field. Amy Eilefson knocked a double to left field to add one to the board. In the bottom of the third, the Vulcans evened the score on two hits and one Eagle error.
Concordia reclaimed the lead immediately behind another Eilefson hit. Kailey Palazzolo bunted her to second and Amanda Gjertsen's fly ball moved her to third. She scored on a wild pitch to take the 2-1 lead.
In the top of the fifth, the Eagles let it fly at the plate. Mackenzie Graham was hit by a pitch with one out and Ryann Ferguson's single placed them on first and second. The pair went to second and third on a wild pitch. Concordia then posted five runs fueled by five hits and four Vulcan errors. Concordia kept the run differential through the sixth until the game was called for the run rule.
BethAnn McCann collected her sixth win of the season. She pitched five innngs and allowed five hits and struck out two.
Game 2: Concordia - 10 Hawai'i Hilo - 9 Â (13 innings)
In part two of the double header, the Eagles and Vulcans went toe to toe for 13 innings before the Eagles captured the 10-9 win.
The Vulcans scored two runs in their first at bats but Concordia turned things around in the fourth. Eilefson homered two bring in two runs. Gjertsen singled and reached second safely on an error. Palazzolo sent one deep over centerfield to add two more. Sarah Kretschmar, Thorpe, Ferguson and Chavez each generated a single to capture the 5-2 lead.
In the bottom of the fifth, Hawai'i Hilo utilized a few Eagle errors and three hits to score three runs and tie the game once again. But a third Eagle home run, this time from Miller, gave Concordia a three run advantage entering the seventh.
The Vulcans added three more runs, two of which came in the bottom of the seventh, to send the game into extra innings.
Both teams went scoreless until in the top of the 11th, the Eagles made the first move. With Ferguson placed on second, Chavez moved her to third on a grounder. Eilefson was effective once more and singled to the short stop to bring home the go ahead run. But the Vulcans weren't ready to go down and sent the game into another extra by scoring a run.
In the top of the 13th, Thorpe was set on second. With two outs, Alyssa Turner singled to center field to bring Thorpe around.
Although in the bottom of the inning the Vulcans had a runner on third with one out, the Eagles closed out the game 10-9.
Grayson Harvey hustled for her sixth win of the season. She struck out nine during her nine innings on the mound. Jordan Quinn pitched one inning and allowed zero runs. BethAnn McCann managed the final three innings.
The Eagles resume their PacWest games in Hawai'i on Tuesday at Chaminade University. The doubleheader begins at 6:30 p.m.Â
