The Eagles began their final series of the 2017 season on Monday as they took on the Lancers of CBU. The first game of the four game series ended in a 9-4 loss.
Concordia struck first as they plated the game's first run in the bottom of the first.
Ryan Land led off the game with a double down the right field line.
Haloa Dudoit extended his hit streak to nine games with a bunt single to advance Land to third. A sacrifice fly from
Jair Donovan knocked in Land to put the Eagles up 1-0.
The Eagles tacked on another run in the bottom of the second as
Dillon Millar sent a triple into the right field corner. A ground out from
Tony Garcia brought him in to give the Eagles a two run lead.
Starter
Mike Killeen sat the Lancers down in order through the next three innings. The CBU offense took charge in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings as the Lancers scored eight runs to take a commanding 8-2 lead.
Down 9-2 in the bottom of the ninth, the Eagles attempted a comeback. Donovan led off the innings with a single into right, and
Bailey Collins followed up with a double to left to put both in scoring position.
Hunter Holland stepped up to the plate next and knocked in both with a base hit and the Eagles would finish the game with four runs.
Collins and Millar led the Eagles with two hits each in the game and Holland had two RBI.
The series continues on Tuesday with a double header starting at 12 p.m. in Irvine.
