Concordia Men's Soccer opened up the 2017 season in San Marcos in the program's first game of the NCAA DII era. Though they dropped the match 2-1 to the Cougars, freshman Elijah Adamin proved to be the Eagles' silver lining.
Cal State San Marcos struck first as Victor Gonzalez sent a shot into the lower right corner to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead 13 minutes in.
The Eagles answered back in the 28
th minute in the first half as Amadin utilized an assist from
Connor Gordon to score his first career goal and the Eagles' first of the season.
The Cougars regained the lead in the second half. Parker Hodges scored the Cougars' second goal in the 54
th minute to put CSUSM up 2-1.
San Marcos outshot the Eagles 15-11 with eight shots on goal.
Saul Al Ocampo held down the goal for Concordia with six saves. Gordon led the Eagles with four shots in the game.
The Eagles return to action in the home opener on Saturday as they take on the Coyotes of Cal State San Bernardino. The match is slated for 4 p.m. at Eagles Field.
