Eagles Keep Rolling Through PacWest Play

After shutting out the Azusa Pacific Cougars on Thursday, the Eagles are now one of three PacWest teams that remain undefeated with a 3-0 conference record on the season.  Two different Eagles contributed to the scoring in the matchup, and Saul Al Ocampo held down the defense in the goal.

Concordia capitalized on their second shot of the game as Julian Font took a cross from Jose Huerta in the 16th minute, putting the ball into the bottom right corner.

Ocampo kept Concordia in the game with two saves in the first half.  The Eagles led 1-0 at the half.

Ocampo came up big for the Eagles in the goal in the second half.  In one of his most impressive saves of the season, the sophomore smothered a hard shot from a Cougar to swing the momentum in favor of CUI.

"We are very strong in the back, and as the keeper I have to be ready for the last second save.  That was a tough save and it gave us some momentum to go and score another goal."

The Eagles worked the ball down the field, giving Randall McDermott a shot at the goal.  His shot was saved by the APU goalie, but the offense kept up the pressure.

Jose Huerta sent the ball into the box with a corner kick, and Michael Oakson deflected the ball into the goal.  Oakson's second goal of the season extended the Eagle lead to 2-0.

With four saves in the game, Ocampo helped the Eagles to their second shut out of the season as they handed APU their sixth loss of the season, second in PacWest play.

PacWest play continues on Saturday when the Eagles take on the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds at 4 p.m. at Eagles Field.
