Eagles down Vulcans in double OT

HILO, Hawai'i — In the first of a three game Hawaiian road trip, Eagles women's soccer (4-5-1, 2-2) went head to head with the Hawai'i Hilo Vulcans (6-2-2, 3-1-1) on Thursday night. A battle ensued under the lights and the teams went to double overtime before Concordia emerged victorious, 2-1.

Isabella Angotti-Jones netted the equalizer with thirty seconds remaining in regulation time. Freshman Emma Lyon crushed the game winning goal in the second overtime after 116 minutes.

The first 45 minutes were unproductive for each side, neither team finding the back of the net. Playing a more defensive game, both the Eagles and Vulcans only recorded a shot each in the first half.

Hilo struck first in the 64th minute with a shot from the right side of the goal into the left side of the netting. Eagles trailed for 25 minutes before Angotti-Jones took a free kick from 30-yards out. The center back sent the ball sailing high over the goalkeepers head and in the back of the net to tie it up with 30 seconds remaining.

Six minutes into the second overtime, Angotti-Jones took another dangerous free kick from 40-yards out. Forward Emma Lyon got a foot on the end of it and knocked it past the keeper for the Eagles Golden Goal.
