Concordia outshoots HPU, falls 1-0

WAIPAHU, Hawai'i — Eagles women's soccer battled through regulation time and one complete overtime period before Hawai'i Pacific found the back of the net in golden goal fashion. Concordia dropped the match in the 102nd minute to HPU, 1-0.

Hawai'i Pacific was picked to finish eighth in the 2018 PacWest Preseason poll and is home to the Preseason PacWest goalkeeper of the year, Lauren Spencer. Spencer saved eight of the Eagles 21 shots to keep her team in the game.

Concordia outshot the HPU Sharks in both the first and second halves of regulation. In the first period, the Green and Gold fired 10 shots to the Sharks three. Outshooting HPU in the second half by one and in the first overtime by two, the Eagles struggled to find the netting.

Carmany Jones led the squad with six total shots. Emma Lyon and McKenna Carrillo were not far behind, posting three of their own. Kaelyn Whitcomb made three saves in goal after 102 minutes of play.

Concordia women's soccer (4-6-1, 2-3-0 PWC) looks to bounce back in the finale of its Hawaiian road trip. The Eagles head to Honolulu for a PacWest matchup against Chaminade on October 16. The game is scheduled for 12:30 pm HT.
