Chaminade Avoids Concordia's Season Sweep

HONOLULU, HAWAII - In the first of a three game Hawaiian road trip, Concordia (7-12, 6-5 PacWest) would play Chaminade (13-4, 7-4 PacWest), where last meeting the Eagles won 3-2. The rematch was a different story for the Eagles as they could not sweep the series against Chaminade. 

In the first set, the Eagles were closely behind the Silverswords most of the set. A kill from Riley Gill would tie the Silverswords 17-17. The Silverswords never let up and would went on two runs to finish the game with a score 18-25. 

The Eagles fought back in the second set and would take off with a lead, until the Silverswords would tie it up 12 all. Clarice Buchanan would go on a service run and take the lead with a score 17-13. Jaclyn Brown would get a couple service aces to continue the lead towards the end of the game for the Eagles. Hannah Tostado would finish the game serving the last three points and finishing on an ace with a score 25-18.

The last two sets were in favor of Chaminade as Concordia could not come back from the deficit in both sets. The Eagles trailed behind closely, but the Silverswords were able to take off with their lead and continue to run with it until the end with scores 20-25 and 18-25. 

Jaclyn Brown led the Eagles with ten kills, with Patience O'Neal close behind with seven kills. Hannah Tostado recorded six kills, hitting .600 and led the team with three aces, while her and Renae Ross had both five blocks on the night. 

The Eagles will continue their road games playing Hawaii Pacific on October 12 at 7:00 P.M. HT
