Saturday's soccer match between Concordia University Irvine and Biola proved to be a tale of two halves.
Â
The Green and Gold amassed 28 shots and were able to put 19 of those attempts on target.
Â
But they were unable to get on the scoreboard in the first half and saw the host Eagles swoop in for three goals before intermission.
Â
Concordia broke through early in the second half when
Isabella Angotti-Jones found the back of the net off a rebound in the 47th minute.
Â
That cut the deficit to 3-1 for the visitors.
Â
Concordia kept peppering the net with shots and was rewarded with a late goal by preseason PacWest conference selection
Carmany Jones. The sophomore forward recorded her fifth goal of the season when she weaved into the box and cut the Biola lead to 3-2 with less than two minutes remaining in the second half.
Â
Moments later, CUI earned a corner kick in the final minute of regulation for one last attempt at drawing even. Unfortunately the Green and Gold were unable to convert and Biola escaped with a narrow 3-2 victory.
Â
Concordia will try to regroup next week as the squad heads to Hawai'i to finish its season-long six game road trip.  Next up is Hawai'i Hilo on Thursday, Oct. 11 when the Eagles face the Vulcans as part of a PacWest doubleheader with the men's soccer teams from both schools.
